Removables on RC4

Removables on RC4
Sun, 09 Mar 2008 16:08:55 -070
I had my USB removable drives working on RC1 and RC2, IIRC, out of the
box. Apparently I don't recall correctly since they don't work in RC4.
Can anyone suggest why and how to fix?

Run USBcfg and check/change configuration
http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/pub/os2/system/usbcfgb7a.zip

If all looks OK maybe you need the /CD switch on the PSD=ACPI.PSD line
in the config.sys file.

I did - no change. "PSD=ACPI.PSD /SMP /APIC /CD"

Note that my installation is right out of the box without updating any
drivers that have been announced since RC4. What should I change/add?

No, you did not :-)

USBcfg does not produce a device report; my guess is that this is from
USBDock or USB Resource Manager.

Looks like this drive is being recognised. What happens when you try to
access it?

I would expect RC4 to have the latest USB drivers - controllers and mass
storage are at build 10.162.

Run USBcfg and check that USB drivers/configuration is what you expect.

Yes I did. :-) I ran USBcfg.exe 673,280 06-08-03 10:51:52
Everything looks reasonable (to the extent of my knowledge). Under the
Resource Manager tab, it lists 2 devices. When I connect the WD drive,
it list it as a third after a brief pause. I click on the WD HD and
then RMB on the area to get the above report. I attached the report
from that. What can I post that will give you more info?
