Have you turned off Installing of APM/ACPI in the eComStation installer? I
dont recall if the 1.2r install support ACPI, but if it does, see if you can
start the installer without it and not install it as well as APM.

Installing V1.2R. After 1st reboot, while "system objects are being
created" in a command window, everything halts when object POWER appears.
One or two seconds later the PC powers down! Power ON; boot. Install
picks up again, as though it were the 1st reboot. When SYSTEM object is
reached, PC powers down again. Sic ad infinitum, so install never
finishes.
Both ACPI 2.0 and ACPI APIC are disabled in BIOS.
How to stop this power OFF b.s.?

If you have the subscription Services, I would say see if you can download
the new ACPI packages from Mensys, they (I believe) include more modern APM
versions as well as the ACPI system.

v1.2R Install does indeed offer the option to *not* install APM.
I ran install again last night, formatted the boot partition and
re-installed w/o APM. That got me a bootable install.
I then looked at the possibility to install APM via Selective Install. No
joy; Selective Install is as clueless as the version in Warp 3. Too, the
only feature that online Help seems to know about adding is PCMCIA stuff.
One of the things I was looking forward to having with eCS was
low/lower/no power modes. I can still power down the hard drives with
Dani's fine software but the processor and "green" monitor will just
have
to stay warm, I guess.
