Yes. Back in the bad old days some folk wrote DOS programs that polled
for input in a loop instead of using interupts. This resulted in 100%
CPU usage. The fix is to go into the DOS Settings and set IDLE_SECONDS
to 2 and IDLE_SENSITIVITY to 1. You might need to use different values
but those worked for me on a single CPU. They work on my T60 but I have
just got duo working and haven't worried about that yet.
You say you got a window. I haven't been able to get my DOS programs to
work in a window. They want full screen. Any suggestions?

I have just reinstalled RC4 on a Dell PowerEdge T105 server. After
upgrading to ACPI 3.7, and patching the Broadcom driver to support the
Dell chip, the system will finally boot in SMP mode. I use the /SMP
/APIC options for the ACPI driver.
I have discovered a couple of problems though. DOS and Win-OS/2 windows
don't work (haven't tried fullscreen yet). For DOS you get a window and
100% CPU use. If you close tye window, the CPU use drops down again. The
100% CPU is split across the two CPUs - it could be 50+50 or 40+60%.
Is this a known problem?
Another problem is that sysbench doesn't work. I get the "Please wait,
gathering information..." window, but the main window only shows up for
less than a second, and then closes.
Best regards,

I know about that - I have many of those programmes. I get the problem
on this system when I just try to open a DOS window however. I never get
a prompt - just the window.

On some systems, DOS won't work in APIC mode.
Some newer ATI video chips causes the same behaviour.

Change your USBMSD line to use 2 removables rather than 8 and SysBench
will function again.
