I successfully installed eCS 2.0 rc4 and am quite pleased
with the experience. My congratulations to all involved
for their efforts to date. I have one question about the
panorama video driver. It limits my choices to a maximum
of 1280x1024 even though the monitor's native resolution
is 1600x1200. How do I overcome this limitation? The
particular model (Viewsonic VP201S) is not listed on the
Monitor page in the Screen dialog and I have found no
way to load the INF file.
Thanks in advance,

Sounds like Panorama is not getting that value from the VESA BIOS table, so
you are more or less buggered.

It looks like you are correct. The Video BIOS does not report 1600x1200
even though the adapter supports that resolution. I take it that this is
a permanent restriction of Panorama? In other words, if I am to get
1600x1200 using the Panorama driver, I need a video card that includes
that in the Video BIOS table? Has anyone started compiling this kind of
information?
Thanks,

In the past several years I have purchased only NVIDIA video cards.
The ATI card came by way of a friend. I went with that one since the
Panorama web site recommended ATI over NVIDIA.
It would be nice to be able to tell the Panorama driver about modes
the card supports that are not reported by the video BIOS, but I can
understand the reluctance to provide the capability. It could certainly
cause problems if the overrides were not specified correctly.
All in all, I'm pretty pleased with the set up. I do have eCS running
full screen at 1600x1200 in a Virtual PC under Windows XP. Of course, I
would much prefer to have that capability in eCS running native.

I am lucky with the fact that all my Nvidia cards have had proper VESA
tables. The laptop chipsets seem to be all types of horrible. I'm not
aware if anyone has a list of what exactly is supported, but
eComStation.ru does have some FAQ concerning chipsets and Panorama. I've
suggested that they add a manual override mode to Panorama, but they have
yet to respond.
