Fat32 and NTFS access

Fat32 and NTFS access
Mon, 21 Jan 2008 12:35:16 -080
Hi,
I have the following config.sys

IFS=E:\OS2\BOOT\FAT32.IFS /CACHE:2048 /H /Q
CALL=E:\OS2\CACHEF32.EXE /S
IFS=E:\OS2\NTFS.IFS /CACHE:2048 [/Q]

I can read each partition, but cannot write to either using 2.0 RC4 or
1.2R. It a recent WinXP install. Can windows make it partition read only?.

Its interesting that people always assume that Windows has done something
horrible first. No, its not Windows. The NTFS driver in eCS is highly
unstable and is forced into Read Only Mode (hence the RO:*) switch on the
driver line. You can get the updated Read/Write driver from Mensys
software subscription, but you do so at your own risk because it has been
noted to corrupt files and volumes.

Fat32 seems stable, if a bit pokey.

Richard

Try "chkdsk /f" on your fat32 partition and see if you can write to it

afterwards.

Any improvement to the driver can only be welcomed since FAT32 is our
bridge between the Windows World and eComstation.

FAT32 is improvements are indeed very welcome, and I also agree that DFSEE
is the absolute bomb :)

How much work would improving the fat32 driver be for you?

However, I also think that NTFS is highly important. Im headed to OS/2 world
right now to brush some dust off my NTFS-3G thread :\
