The new Lenovo IDEAPADS

The new Lenovo IDEAPADS

Hi-

I'm looking at the new Ideapads from Lenovo, specifically the model Y510.
15.4" screen, 2gb ram, 250 gb hard drive. Nice looking box.

Has anyone bought any of the new Ideapads and installed eCS?

I've seen a number of posts about having trouble with audio and wi-fi on
newer thinkpads. This makes me wonder if Ideapads are having the same
problems. This Y510 has 4 speakers and a sub-woofer, and sounded great for a
laptop.

I know they have been adding more device support in each new release
candidate. Hopefully 2.0 Gold will support the newer video, audio, and
wi-fi technology.

Regards,

-Steve

Not being a laptop/notebook user myself the only advice I can suggest is
the same as for desktops: check what audio and nic chipsets are in use
and then check for driver availability.

I do remember reading somewhere that uniaud does not support HDA (High
Definition Audio?) yet so that could be problem 1. You could possibly
volunteer to test uniaud development in that direction though :-)

Hopefully someone else will be able to clarify what wi-fi support is
available as I have not had to look into that myself - yet.

I suspect your only video driver option will involve using VBE rather
than an accelerated driver.

Regards

Pete
