Java1.5.0_07 anyone?

Java1.5.0_07 anyone?
Thu, 28 Feb 2008 02:10:12 +000
Hi All

I saw this page
http://home.arcor.de/michael.holzapfel/eCS/java/Using%20Java%20on%20eCS.html
and had to give it a try.

So far my testing has only involved Limewire and JDiskReport - which
both run with java142 anyway - but 150 works and both apps seem to
respond more quickly than when using java142.

Maybe others want to give this a try and post what apps needing Java1.5
work? - and how well. Of course problems should also be posted to avoid
everyone wasting time testing the same non-working software :-)

Regards

Elsewhere I had reported that I had 1.50._06 working with Odin, but like
you had no 1.5 only java programs with which to test it. I did test it
with Polarbar Mailer and was not happy with the titlebar font and it
crashed with settings. I will have to give the 07 a try.

Sorry, guess I missed your report...

I've had a few plays with java1.5.0_07 - run successfully 3 times out of
3 - with the current release of Phex which requires java1.5
http://www.phex.org/mambo/

The only problem was that when closing Phex on the 3rd use ar5os2.exe
failed to shut; WatchCat shows "Exit T1" and "processing exit
list" for
ar5os2.exe meaning that ar5os2.exe has hung. The only way to "cure"
this
is to reboot.

As that happens occasionally when closing OpenOffice for Windows
(running using the same technique) and also AcrobatReader I do not see
java1.5 as the problem there.

Now to go find some other java1.5 specific apps :-)

Regards

Pete
