| Can't access or read compact flash |

Hi,
Opening the object representing the compact flash results in 'No objects
were found that matched the specified find criteria' Clicking OK results
in 'The drive or diskette is not formatted correctly'. Now using V 2.0
RC4. I could access the compact flash using V 1.2, which no longer runs
because of a new video adapter. I tried formatting the CF with fat32
using Dfsee, but that was unsuccessful, same error messages, and the
camera would have no part of that.

Have you tried using the latest FAT32 driver? It has fixed some
problems I was having with a FAT32 formatted SDHC card.

"Version 0.9.12:
Fixed the problem that CACHEF32 is crashed after calling CHKDSK for
dirty
volume.
Fixed the problem the regonition of USB removable media takes very
long time
when inserting it since 0.9.11.
This is because FAT32 always calculates free space on mount. Now,
FAT32
calculates free space only if /CALCFREE specified or free space info
was not
stored on disk.
Fixed the trap when removing USB removable media without eject.
Improved Read/Write performance. By Lars.
*** Known Problems ***
When using USB removable media with other OS such as Windows, free
space can
be incorrect. At this time, you should use 'chkdsk' to correct it or
'/CALCFREE' to avoid it."

Sounds like the card had been removed from a drive without being Ejected
1st... Eject the card and try again. It may also need chkdsk run against it.
Now using V 2.0

Now that is a different can of worms :-)
Having recently tried a RC4 install and found that the only USB item
working here was the mouse I was not too impressed.
The LVM bits are backlevel and had to be updated using the LVM14.105
package before I could get access to any of my USB drives. Now I can
access 1 USB drive at a time which is a vast improvement over the
original install but any attempt to attach a 2nd USB drive is doomed to
failure while the 1st is still attached.
I have not found the cause of that yet and suspect that I will probably
try a very basic re-install (system only) to see if I can find out what
is causing the problem.
The USB scanner would not work until the newer (v1.6)
\ecs\boot\usbresmg.sys was replaced with the older (v1.5) version
supplied with Tame. Possibly there is an update to Tame somewhere but I
have not found it...

Either
Switch SNAP to VESA mode - use this command (or very similar) in the
SNAP directory
gaoption VBE on
You will then need to reboot.
Or
Have you checked to see if the Panorama driver supports the video card
chipset?

I have limited experience with Digital Cameras - but have to know how to
use the Wife's - and have found that the few cameras that I have played
with will not work with a card formatted on any other device. They only
work with the cards formatted by that camera. I have not really
investigated this but suspect the camera format includes something that
any other format does not...

Not to be contrary, but I have not found this to be an issue with my
camera thus far (Fuji Finepix s700). In fact, I have replaced the DCIM
folder with an OS/2 Light-table called DCIM and no issues have resulted
:D Camera treats my card fine, doesn't touch any OS/2 stuff, Windows
reads the light-table as a standard folder, and OS/2 shows me previews
of all my images. Well, at least until the JPEG IOPROC craps out and the
WPS hangs, but its still awesome. Makes using Cameraderie less of a

You may not be to this point yet, but I have found that if you access
any of the flash media (Smart Media, CF, SD) from the WPS, it will
write WP ROOT. SF to the card. This prevents any of my cameras from
using the card (including formatting it, in some cases) until I format
the card with FAT16 or FAT32. I then re-format the card in the camera,
just to make sure.
