| Exactly 1 Minute Delay Time Before Printing |

Hi,
I am a novice in teleprocessing and have build my home LAN.
containing 2 desktops, a router (D-Link DI-604). The sharing
functions (peer networking) like sharing files and devices
works fine (sharing printer not tested). Now i am trying to
implement the print server (HP Jetdirect 170x) by connecting
the this device between the router and printer to have
independent access from one of both desktops.
I implement the SLPR driver under eCS 1.2r.de. It works,
but I experienced always a 1 minute delay time after
transmission by the application to print the print job.
Changing available (slpr)-parameters have no effect.
Remark: it works under Windowsxp without any problem.
What can I do to overcome the problem? Thanks!

I've had the same problem for years, and have just lived with it. If
anyone knows how to fix it I'd love to hear the answer.

If your print server can handle the "High Performance" option (which
is supposed to stream I believe) it may do better but my Brother
printer doesn't and while I haven't timed it I get a delay while I am
waiting for the printer to kick off.

Do you mean the choice between "High Performance" and "LPRPORTD
compatible"?
Have you tried one of the older LPD port?
It may be the printer is waiting for an end-of-job command. Which
printer and printer language are you using? Which printer driver version?

Hi James,
First some additional news: On my older desktop i have two
version
of eCS running, one eCS1.2 DE and one eCS1.2R DE. Under
eCS1.2 DE
it works fine, but not under eCS1.2R and this is my standard
system
also on the ather desktop.
Now to your questions:
Do you mean the choice between "High Performance" and
"LPRPORTD compatible"?
Yes. I tested both parameters with no change in the behavior.
Have you tried one of the older LPD port?
Yes. I tried NET SHARE/USE functions it works too.
It may be the printer is waiting for an end-of-job command.
In the spool queue I see the print job, nothing will be
done, and after 1 minute the job will
be printed.
Which printer and printer language are you using?
I am using the "HP Laserjet Printer 1320". The language is
PL6 i assume.
Which printer driver version?
