| Problems accessing os/2 share from windows |

I have setup ECS 1.2R to access a simple workgroup (peer networking), to
share network files with 2 windows machines (win2k and vista). After
logging into the workgroup in ECS/os2 machine, I have no problems
accessing the windows shared folders. The windows machines can see the os2
machine, and if I click it in the network browser it shows the shared os2
folder, but if I try to open the os2 shared folder from windows it reports
"No more connections can be made to this remote computer at this time
because there are already as many connections as the computer can accept."
I saw this registry change listed on this forum:
http://www.os2world.com/cgi-bin/ultraboard/UltraBoard.cgi?action=Read&BID=59
&TID=787&SID=
But that didn't make a difference. On the os2 side the shared folder is
set for "unlimited" connections in the properties.. and I have played
with
the user settings both giving priviledges to all as well as setting up
individual users to match the windows users. Either way I get the same
results. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this?
Any advice is very appreciated!
Thanks,
David

Also, in case it matters. All machines are using dhcp. I have tried it
both with and without NetBEUI protocol installed on the windows box and it
didnt seem to make a difference (right now it's just the default windows
install, NetBEUI over tcp/ip).

Thank you Andreas! That registry change made it work instantly :).. it was
a good feeling after hours of trying to get it working.

For W$ 5.0 you need SP4 (and for W$ 5.1 SP1). Additionally, you have to
add a registry setting:
| 1. Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
| 2. Locate and then click the following key in the registry:
| HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet
| \Services\lanmanworkstation\parameters
| 3. On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD.
| 4. Type EnableDownLevelLogOff, and then press ENTER.
| 5. On the Edit menu, click Modify.
| 6. Type 1, and then click OK.
