No network after install eCs2.0RC4

No network after install eCs2.0RC4
Sun, 16 Mar 2008 17:34:10 +010
Hello world,

I have installed eCs2.0RC4 on my ASUS A8N-E. After installation has
completed I am prompted with the desktop. It looked like the
installation completed succesfully, only network does not seem to work.

I have installed the genmac nforce4 wrapper driver that comes with
eCs2.0RC4. The requester did not start although everything seems fine.

MPTN:
  Genmac Wrapper nForce4 10/100/1000 [10DE:0057]
  0-IBM OS/2 Netbios overt TCP/IP
  0-IBM TP/IP

TCP/IP is configured as manual.

Protocol.ini

  [PROT_MAN]
   DRIVERNAME = PROTMAN$

  [IBMLXCFG]
   tcpbeui_nif = tcpbeui.nif
   tcpip_nif = tcpip.nif
   w10dex0057_nif = w10dex0057.nif

  [NETBIOS]
   Drivername = netbios$
   AAPTER0 = tcpbeui$

  [tcpbeui_nif]
   Drivername = tcpbeui$
   Bindings = w10dex0057_nif
   NODETYPE = "B-NODE"
   OS2TRACEMASK = 0x0
   SESSIONS = 130
   NCBS = 225
   NAMES = 21
   SELECTORS = 15
   USEMAXDATAGRAM = "NO"
   NETBIOSTIMEOUT = 500
   NETBIOSRETRIES = 2
   NAMECACHE = 1000
   PURGECACHE = 0
   PRELOADCACHE = "NO"
   NAMESFILE = 0
   DATAGRAMPACKETS = 20
   PACKETS = 50
   ENABLEDNS = 0
   INTERFACERATE = 3--

  [tcp_nif]
   Drivername = TCPIP$
   Bindings = w10dex0057_nif

  [W10DEx0057_nif]
   DriverName = WRND32$
   VENDOR = 0x10DE
   DEVICE = 0x0057
   NDIS_SYS = "NVENET.SYS"
   NDIS_INF = "NVENET.INF"
   DEBUGLEVEL = "NONE"
   OPTIONS = "NONE"

I have downloaded the genmac2.20 nforce4 driver from netlabs and
intalled this one over the existing one but still no luck.

Did I overlook something?

Does the nic driver load OK?

Is tcp/ip working ie can you ping anything else?

What error messages are involved when the requester does not start?

I used to use genmac on an A8N-E before switching to nveth (available
from hobbes) so here is what I see as different to my old installation:-

Something wrong in the above, it should be

ADAPTER0 = tcpbeui$,0

INTERFACERATE = 300

OPTIONS = "STACK32"

Not sure if the above is needed with later versions of genmac; it cured
a cannot use the internet and peer at the same time" problem.

Hopefully some of the above will be of help.

Seems by adjusting the ipnumber things work out. Network is fully
operational.

Pete,

Thanks for the reply. Normally I use DHCP but the first installation
went completly worng so I changed to fixed IP number. I overlooked the
fact that the router ( which is also DHCP server ) holds the IP number
for 1 day and then releases it. Since my pc also has wxp installed the
IP number was still in use. I used a different IP number. changing the
IP number to the one equal to wxp the network loaded. With genmac2.20
and not with the original with eCs2.0RC4.
