Hello everyone:
After installing VPC5.1 (guest: Windows XP) on my 'puter (host: eCS1.2),
I have lost all internet connectivity. The host 'puter has worked
exceedingly well, internet and all, prior to the VPC installation, which
was uneventful, quite normal, I think. I checked and rechecked the host
'puter's TCP/IP settings and tried various start-up procedures, to no
avail. The ethernet cable, etc., is definitely working - something has
changed in the host machine. Could somebody suggest what might have
changed, or how to find out what needs to be done to reconnect the host
to the net?
The problem is probably related to my multiple attempts to connect the
guest machine to the internet, which I cannot retrace... I am certainly
not a windows expert.

I'm running VPC 5.1 under eComStation.
The guest is Windows 2000, and I want to compress the hard drive to
make the VHD files smaller. Does someone have a procedure to do so?
Thanks.

Forget my above submission, please. I had a recent backup of the system
disk which fixed the problem. (Installing VPC from scratch now.) Sorry!

Off the top of my head:
Defrag the disk under W2K
Shutdown the virtual machine

You have probably screwed up the PROTCOL.INI file on the host machine
somehow by installing the VPC network drivers.
