Recommended newsreader?

Recommended newsreader?
Tue, 29 May 2007 16:33:05 GMT
Having just switched from Windows to openSUSE 10.2 with the Gnome desktop,
I'm now looking for a good newsreader to use. Any recommendations?

I'm currently using Knode, but there are a few things about the interface I
don't really care for. On Windows I had been using the Outlook newsreader
(which I liked a lot). So if there's anything similar to it, I would be
especially interested trying it.

Thanks for any suggestions. -Pat

I'm perfectly happy with Thunderbird. V2 seems to be a genuine
improvement over 1.5

Pat,

like Andrew, I'm using Thunderbird here. The only problem I have with it is the
lack of support for selective quoting.

I use the QuickQuote plugin for that, it works well.

Thanks Andrew and Uwe for the suggestion. I installed Thunderbird and
am replying from it right now!

So far, I like what I see. It reminds a lot of Outlook's newsreader,
which is what I used before switching to Linux. I have a question
though. Is it possible to have messages displayed in threaded form by
default? I see where you can toggle to threaded form, but then if I
sort by date (I prefer to see new messages at the top, not both) it
reverts to an unthreaded view.

Thanks again for the feedback. I appreciate it.
