Hello,

Currently right now, i am running suse 10.2 on my computer

computer specs:
ASUS mobo
Kingston Memory
AMD 32 bit athlon xp CPU
I am running to hard drives.
I am running VMware

What i want to do basically is to replace my current motherboad/cpu/video
without reinstalling suse. Is this possible?

I appreciate your help.

These are the issues I foresee
-- if the disk drive connectors change sequence then grub and /etc/fstab
will need to be adjusted (Suse install cd #1 has repair functionality to
adjust these for you)
-- the graphic drivers will need to be changed/recompiled
-- in yast you'll need to reconfigure your sound and network cards

Also, before purchase you should make sure your new boards chipset is
supported in the 10.2's kernel. Google the chipset and linux and see what
pops up.

64 bit processors run 32 bit Suse fine so this will not be an issue

David,

do you have /home on a separate partition? If so, or if you can easily backup
/home, just reinstall. It's as fast (unless you did a lot of configuration on
the system itself, not your GUI environment) as trying to make an old install
run on new hardware, if not even faster.
