Volume-Manager Error

Volume-Manager Error
Wed, 05 Mar 2008 21:26:02 GMT
I'm running SuSE Linux Enterprise 10 SP1, and every time I put a dvd of
any kind into the dvd rom I get this error message:

'An error occurred while loading or saving configuration information
for gnome-volume-manager. Some of your configuration settings may not
work properly."

when I click on details I get:

"Bad key or directory name:
"/system/storage/default_options//mount_options": Can't have two
slashes (/) in a row"

What's going on? How do I fix it?

Hi
From the cli run gconf-editor and browse to /system/storage/ does
default_options exist (it doesn't on my machine)? If it does this may
be the place where the two / exist.

Also have a look in 'Control Center' Removable Drives and Media
anything look funny there?

Hey. Thanks for replying.

I ran the gconf-editor, and default_options doesn't seem to exist on my
machine either.

I also went back to removable drives and media, and everything that
should be checked is checked. I didn't see anything weird there.

Any other ideas?

Hi
What about if you uncheck the items in the Control Centre, logout and
log back in. Then recheck and see what happens.

The config file is in ~/.gconf/desktop/gnome/volume_manager/ and called
%gconf.xml if the above doesn't work less this file or maybe mv it to a
backup eg

mv ~/.gconf/desktop/gnome/volume_manager/"%gconf.xml"
~/backupgconf.xml

This will move it to your home directory, logout and log back in. If it
doesn't work, just move it back :)
