Good afternoon ! Can you help me with some problem ?
My configuration is:
Server side - Novell Netware 5.1 with Service Pack 8
Workstation side - openSuSE 10.3 x86, russian locale,
LANG=ru_RU.cp1251
Long time I used ncpfs linux package (ncpmount) for operate with novell
russian filenames (options -y cp1251 -p cp866) whithout troubles. Now I
decide to use the Novell Client, becouse it support automatic reconnect
(ncpmount does not support it, as I know) which of no small importance
in my workload.
I installed novfs-kmp-default-2.0.0_2.6.22.5_31-23 package from distr
DVD, and other client packages, except novell-novfs-2.0.0-35.i586.rpm,
manually.
All works fine with the exception of one thing.
I have problem with reflection of the russian filenames on Novell
server volumes. I use evident export XTIER_CODE_PAGE="CP1251" in
script
/etc/init.d/novfsd and get not readable filenames.
What can I do to fix this ??? Or what I do wrong ???

seems lots of people are having problems with special characters , not
only is it affecting the russian language but also , danish & german ,
maybe check this post out here :

Problem appears also with LANG=ru_RU.UTF8. In addition, by the way,
graphic tools like gnwconnections works only with UTF8 environment with
russian symbols (can be fixed with alias), and novfsd generates core
dump when terminated (when use killproc -9 novfsd in script
/etc/init.d/novfsd, dump is not generated)
