Xen virtual machine Manager fails to load

Xen virtual machine Manager fails to load
Thu, 10 Apr 2008 09:46:02 GMT
Hi,
I've just installed OpenSuse 10.3 to use for virtualisation. I've
loaded all the available updated, created the first VM (that runs fine)
but double clicking the virtual machine manager does nothing. No error
messages, just nothing happens! Can anyone suggest anything, or perhaps
another way to get to the virtual machine console?? Please don't presume
anything - I'm a real Linux beginner!

Thanks
Matt

Start by running virt-manager from a shell. In other words, open up your
favorite shell (konsole or gnome-console) then simply type in virt-manager.
Any errors to be seen should then show up in the console.

When replying, please cut/paste the errors.

Thanks for your response. When starting (attempting to start!)
virt-manager from terminal I get;

Unable to open connection to hypervisor 'xen://'

The details page shows;
Unable to open connection to hypervisor URI 'xen://':
<type 'exceptions.AttributeError'> 'NoneType' object has no attribute
'FindDeviceByCapability'
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "/usr/share/virt-manager/virtManager/engine.py", line 68, in
_connect_to_uri
conn = self.get_connection(uri, readOnly)
File "/usr/share/virt-manager/virtManager/engine.py", line 333, in
get_connection
self.connections[uri]["connection"].tick()
File "/usr/share/virt-manager/virtManager/connection.py", line 330,
in tick
newPaths = self.hal_iface.FindDeviceByCapability("net")
AttributeError: 'NoneType' object has no attribute
'FindDeviceByCapability'

With some more research I thought this might be related to the
libvirt-4648 patch, but my system says it is up to date????

Thanks
Matt
