| FSC Lifebook E8210 display brightness keys with openSUSE 10.3 |

My daughter's Fujitsu Siemens Lifebook E8210 notebook is working quite
well with openSUSE 10.3, and she's quite pleased with it. A big thank
you to all those who contributed to that.
Nevertheless, there are - as always - a few points that could be
improved. One of them is the adjustment of the display's backlight
brightness. The Fn+F6 and Fn+F7 key combinations which are designated
for this work in the BIOS and with Windows XP, but have no effect with
Linux.
I have found and installed the fuj02b1 kernel module from
http://tilos.csl.mech.ntua.gr/~apoikos/fujitsu-acpi-2.6.tar.bz2
which allows me to adjust the backlight by commands like
sudo sh -c 'echo "brightness: 4" > /proc/acpi/fuj02b1/brightness'
But the other half of connecting that to the function keys is still missing.
Any hints?
TIA

Tilman,
check out lineak. Even if your daughter's notebook isn't supported out of the
box, they have a very good documentation on how to make it work (i.e., how to
find the keystrokes and such)
http://lineak.sourceforge.net/
