Thanks Robert. I had a similar problem with an onboard sound card awhile
back. It was almost 6 months before it was available. I just installed a
discrete card and went on with life. It was my fault for buying a
motherboard that wasn't yet fully supported but I was getting a new board
with the latest and greatest so I took my chances. Kernel updates can be
tricky when it comes to third party vendors who have been predictably slow
responding to changes. I have to recompile vmware after kernel updates,
and for me, that is very scary because if it fails to compile I lose access
to all of my vm's. That's my main reason for waiting to apply kernel
updates and I also like to test them myself whenever possible. Bottom line
for me is approach kernel updates with extreme caution.
