KDE 4.0.1 Desktop issues

KDE 4.0.1 Desktop issues
Fri, 29 Feb 2008 10:26:02 GMT
Hello I am using KDE 4.0.1 in OpenSuse 10.3 and I have some small
issues...

1. every time I login in KDE 4.0.1 every icon is reappearing.... To
explain more, if I login 5 times I will have in my Desktop 5 icons of
My Computer and so on....

2.another issue is when I rotate an icon on the Desktop, if I try to
move it afterwards the icon is moved more than it should...

3. Finally, I cannot change the wallpaper, if I change it a white
background fills my Desktop and I have to logout-login in order for the
new wallpaper to appear....

any ideas?

Keep up the good work....

Mike

Use KDE 3.X until KDE 4 matures.

I only use KDE4 on my test box and it
has strange stuff like that that comes and
goes...but I'm also getting nightly builds.
If I were you I'd either get my hands dirty
and start updating KDE4 regularly and hope for the best
or wait until OpenSuSE 11 before you get serious about
trying to really use KDE4. With the release of OpenSuSE 11
the team will have sorted out the integration of
KDE4 with OpenSuSE and KDE4 will be farther along in maturity.

Right-click on the desktop > desktop settings > disable show icons on
desktop.

This is a known bug. Not sure if the 4.0.2 packages will contain a fix. You
could edit the config file or you will have to wait.
