Dual Desktops

I run Gnome but I understand I can run KDE alongside it on the same
machine?

I have run "KDE" as a search in Yast but it presents me with colossal
and frankly confusing list of SW to load.

what do I really need to load?

How do I switch between Desktop Managers?

Will I lose my Gnome settings when I switch to KDE and Visa Versa?

Do I have to remove my Gnome applications or will they co exist with
KDE and visa versa?

Sorry for so many questions............................... again!

Because KDE is another fully-loaded window manager, there is quite a bit to
load. However, if you select the KDE Desktop Environment pattern in YaST |
Software | Software Management, that should auto-check the dependent
packages (change the Filter drop-down to Patterns).

At the login screen, select Session | KDE before authentication (or after,
really, just don't hit [enter] until you've selected KDE).

No. These settings are stored in hidden subdirectories within your user
directory. You can seamlessly change between window managers without
reconfiguring each time.

Nope. In fact, most applications will run on any window manager you like.
I.e., I run KDE, but use Evolution as my e-mail client (now don't start a
flame-war). If you like Kopete as your IM client, you can run it in Gnome,
etc.,.

Excellent questions, all.
