| Can't play music |

I am very new at linux. I'm using suse10.2. I can't play a music cd in
my cd drive. If I insert the music cd and try to access it i get a
message which reads "could not start process. unable to create
io-slave. Klauncher said unknown protocol." I am aware but do not
understand the problem with linux playing MP3 files. I thought that
might be the problem so I loaded mplayer and got the same result. Am I
still dealing with that incompatibility or is it something else?
amorak was originally installed and is still installed along with
mplayer. I can bring up a playlist which i believe is on line and I
can play titles from that play list.
Any insights or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

So, is it normal music cd, or cd with mp3 files?
If normal cd, check if you have installed kdemultimedia3-cd package.
If it is mp3 files, mplayer should just play them. Try:
mplayer /<path to the file>, where path to the file is where the cd-rom
is mounted. What is the output of mount command, wfter you insert the cd?

Thank you, thank you, thank you. Kdemultimedia3-cd worked. I was
surfing earlier and came upon a site which had a video running. I
could see the video perfectly well but had no sound. there was
something i saw which referenced flashplayer. I assume flashplayer is
some sort of program or format which is associated with the video. is
there a particular package i need to handle that?

If you have seen the video, this means you already have the flash
plugin installed.
