| How to install maple 7 in opensuse 10.3? |

The maple 7 requires:
Linux Kernel 2.2, glibc 2.1, x86 compatible H/W
How to create an environment for such old libraries? I followed
instructions found at
'Cool Solutions: How to run proprietary programs from different
versions of a Linux installation in a compatibility environment'
but is did not worked so far.

* lbcarval,
if it really needs such an old kernel, finding an old Suse 7 CD is probably your
best bet.
Upgrading the software is not an option?

Thank you for your suggestion but it is not reasonable to come back to
suse 7 ! But it is well reasonable to eventually be possible to have
such an way of making an old software to run in a newer OS. But never
the other way around of course.
If it is not possible, it is not possible. However, this novell link
say it is possible: 'Cool Solutions: How to run proprietary programs
from different versions of a Linux installation in a compatibility
environment' (http://www.novell.com/coolsolutions/feature/11250.html)
I did not make it to be possible, though.
Thank you any way.

I have no funds to upgrade the software (to maple 11 for instance)
Inside universities we need a software like Maple or Mathematica AND
one like Origin from OriginLab that are FREEEEE

If Maple 7 relies on the 2.2 kernel, it doesn't really make a difference if the
label on the box says Opensuse 10 or Suse 7 Professional. The kernel *is* the
OS, and from what you say it looks like the software requires an outdated OS.

This article doesn't talk about the kernel though.
Again, verify if the software indeed needs the old kernel.
