Problems I am Having
Mon, 27 Nov 2006 04:51:20 GMT
Hello,
I installed Suse about a week ago and i am having several problems.
First off, I was able to get the sould the computer makes on my logitech
USB headphones, however i am still not able to get sound off the internet,
is their any way to fix it?

And the second part i am having problems with is that whenever i want to
install a new program (like an AVI PLAYER) i am unable to because i do not
have a C compiler. So i downloaded the compiler but am having problems
installing it. so is their any easyer way to install the C compiler?

Thank you,

If you use the yast software management tool, you should be able to
install the c++ compiler and tools bundle. This will install everything
you need to start compiling stuff.

If you want help beyond Mark's offering, folks will probably need to know
what version of Suse you've installed.

Don't download and build your own programs until you know
more, you just break the system by doing so.

If the version you installed is not the remastered, you may
have some problems to get the updater to work.

Read the fine walkthru from Vahis
http://waxborg.servepics.com/English/Linux/SUSE.10.1/suse10.1.html

Then use YaST software manager only to add/remove applications until you
get it to work.

You will find it more easy then windows, it's just different, and
in the case of 10.1 more bugs :-) but when you pass the waxborg
description , the bugs are gone, and online update works,
and your multimedia works too.

The libdvdcss2 link is broken, and those who make laws will make it
a big crime just to tell you where it is, and I don't know if I send
the newsmaster to jail if I tell you where to find it. :-)
