| installing 10.3 Alpha 3 from CDs -- grub problem after CD# 5 |
 |

During "Finishing Basic Installation" yast announces "Installing
boot loader..",
and from that process step I get a pop-up titled "Error occurred while
installing GRUB."
In the middle of the window it says
grub> install --stage2=/boot/grub/stage2 (hd0,1)/boot/grub/stage1 d
(hd0)(hd0,1)/boot/grub/stage2 0x8000 (hd0,1)/boot/grub/menu.lst
Error 21: Selected disk does not exist
grub> quit
If I make it look like this:
grub> install --stage2=/mnt/boot/grub/stage2 (hd0,1)/boot/grub/stage1 d
(hd0)(hd0,1)/boot/grub/stage2 0x8000 (hd0,1)/boot/grub/menu.lst
I get this feedback:
Error 12: Invalid device requested
I assume that's referring to my boot device,
which has always been hda2 (at least until 10.1, which is what ran last on that
machine),
but now with 10.3 Alpha 3 that device is apparently called sda2.
Would somebody pls be so nice and tell me the right grub command line?
Cheers,
