OES2/SUSE 10 patches and subscription

OES2/SUSE 10 patches and subscription
Thu, 10 Jan 2008 20:03:47 GMT
Hi, just purchased OES2, am presently on NW65 but will look at moving to
SUSE 10 for my OES2 service this year. My question is after I obtained my
license certificates, I received an email that I'm eligible for 1 year to
download patches and so on.

Does this mean that:
- after a year that I can't download patches and fixes like I've been able
to do since forever with my NetWare software?
- Or is it simply the case that I can't download updates for newer versions
(such as SUSE 11 or whatever the next release is) after a year, but I can
from now to eternity download updates that Novell makes available for SUSE
10 and OES2?

I'm guessing the latter since this is how software patch downloads are
normally handled, it was simply the way the email was phrased that had me
thinking...

Thanks
James

I think you have it correct. From my experience...

But try an OES forum... :-)

Sorry but should have specified in my earlier post that the message I
received from support@novell.com mentioned "Novell SUSE Linux Enterprise
Server" in the message, hence why I posted it here. I received SUSE as
part
of the OES2 upgrade is what I meant, but the notification was about SUSE
updates, which I would expect to be eligible for as long as they're being
made for 10.x or whatever Novell considers a new version (perhaps
10.5...??).

Cheers

This is the OPEN SUse Forum section....
Try the novell.suse groups.

Open Suse is quite a different beast.
