kinternet not connected to server
Mon, 21 Jan 2008 02:36:01 GMT
I have just made a clean installation of Suse 10.3 and would like to use
kinternet for dialout.

I have got the dialout to work perfectly with wvdial, but when
kinternet is started it comes up with an error saying that the
connection to local and remote server is refused.

The first suggestion made is that smpppd is not running. While this
program is installed in the computer, I do not know if it is running.

The second suggestion is that the user is not in the dialout group. in
fact it is in the dialout, modem and uucp groups.

The final suggestion is that I should check the dialog "various
settings" but I don't know where this is.

I would appreciate some help here. I have got all this to work in Suse
10.2 without any hassles, so I don't know what I have done wrong here.

How do I get kinternet to work?
Does it have a configuration file or is it all done through the Yast
modem config (which looks fine to me)?
Does kinternet use the wvdial.conf file?

There is a checkbox or something like it in the connection settings that
says "stupid mode". I have found that to work in some cases.
