kismet config

Hello.

I try to install kismet (wifi lurker).

found on the dvd...

it don't want to see my intel 3945 card. Say it's not compiled for it,
to look at the configure list.

but this is the openSUSE version (as is the ipw3945 module)

what can I do?

README from kismet:

ipw3945 Intel/Centrino Linux ipw3945
                     Capture interface: 'ethX'
                     http://ipw3945.sourceforge.net/
The Linux IPW3945/Centrino drivers for Intel Core
                     802.11bga cards.

/etc/kismet.conf:

# Sources are defined as:
# source=sourcetype,interface,name[,initialchannel]
# Source types and required drivers are listed in the README under the
# CAPTURE SOURCES section.
# The initial channel is optional, if hopping is not enabled it can be
used
# to set the channel the interface listens on.
# YOU MUST CHANGE THIS TO BE THE SOURCE YOU WANT TO USE
#source=none,none,addme
source=ipw3945,eth2,intel_3945

error message:
FATAL: Support for capture source type 'ipw3945' was not built. Check
the output from 'configure' for more information about why it might
not have been compiled in.

(NB: I tried to compile it myself with exactly the same result)

thanks

the problem was a crossover between the yast one and the compiled one.
had to use mc to remove all kismet files before installing with yast
and it works
