Cant find server
Wed, 12 Mar 2008 23:06:01 GMT
Linux 10 desktop, installed client ok, but when I search for a tree one
can't be found with the Novell client. SMB works as I can see any
server via smb://serverip. I get a msg telling me to chk SLP(which is
working fine). I have even gone through the client wizard and loaded
everything I can. How can I chk this problem out, no rhyme or reason as
to why it can't see a tree with the client.

Thanks

* jimpearce,

open a terminal, become root, then
rcSuSEfirewall2 stop

and see if that helps.

I'll try that but I did turn off the firewall at the GUI, but I will try
turning it off at the terminal. Any other ideas if the firewall is
already turned off?

Jim,

sorry, I read your initial message totally wrong.
Please try the IP of a server with a replica instead of the tree name.

If you run into problems, please go to the OES client forums, you'll get better
help there.

I replaced the tree name with the server ip that holds my master replica
and it worked. Great, thank you, but how come?? If it's a dns issue I
already have the server name in my DNS server, not necessarily in my
local hosts file though. I just want to know why it sees the server by
IP and now Tree name.

Thanks
